Claire Barry brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a specialised focus on health economics and patient access. Her academic journey began with a degree in Physiology and a PhD in Neurophysiology from Trinity College Dublin, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Health Economics from the University of York.

Claire’s career includes significant roles in senior leadership within major pharmaceutical organisations, including Head of Patient Access with Bayer Pharmaceuticals, where she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic insight, and during that time was a member of the IPHA Market Access Advisory Forum advising the industry association approach to policy and stakeholder interactions across market access topics.

Throughout her career, Claire has developed deep expertise in the Irish reimbursement process, including horizon scans, rapid review submissions, and health technology assessments (HTAs). She has been instrumental in securing reimbursement for a wide range of medicines, from innovative new treatments to essential existing therapies, across a wide range of therapeutic areas, such as oncology, cardiovascular, neurology, and women’s health. Claire’s strong scientific background means she is skilled at data interpretation, and has in depth understanding of therapy areas and medicines.
